This program consists of counselling which is directed on queer Muslims and their families. This is a continuous program which is intended to assist queer Muslims to reconcile their sexuality with Islam. In many cases, the experiences which queer Muslims go through can cause extreme distress which needs to be handled carefully. In certain cases, families of queer Muslims find it difficult to accept their members once they have declared themselves queer. This causes a range of social problems to both the family and the individual concerned. Psycho-spiritual support helps both queer Muslims and the families to which they belong. The counselling also targets people who need advice before they get married and those who are experiencing problems in their marriages. TIC also offers financial support to queer Muslims who are refugees in South Africa and those who have been ostracized by their families. In order to reach out to queer Muslims who cannot physically avail themselves at TIC, TIC uses the ‘ask the Imam’ on its website to give them advice and support. In some Muslim countries and communities, queer Muslims cannot openly declare their sexuality. This forum helps them to openly express their views and to seek knowledge, information and advice regarding Islam and sexual diversity. Since its inception, many people have gone through the counselling and they have found it useful in many ways.
